AI Learning usage guide

1. Open AI Learning

Enter the application reference and ID number linked to your learner record, then select Open AI Learning.

2. Check your AI allowance

The allocation panel shows online requests available today, requests used, shared-pool capacity and renewal time. If online capacity is exhausted, the LMS automatically attempts to use local AI, which may take longer.

3. Review your Learner Knowledge Profile

Open the folded categories under Transparency and control to see verified study context, competencies, preferences, observations, goals and previous AI summaries. Select Challenge or correct if something is inaccurate.

If profile personalisation is disabled by the portal, this information remains visible for transparency but is not used for optional personalisation.

4. Complete onboarding

Open Complete AI Learning onboarding, complete the required learning preferences and goals, then select Save my learning profile. Optional fields may remain blank.

5. Choose learning material

Classroom sessions and their resources is selected by default. Only assigned sessions are shown, and AI Learning opens after a session closes or is completed. You can alternatively choose Modules and their resources.

6. Read the resources

Open Uploaded teaching resources and select a PDF. The tutor and practice generator use text extracted from accessible published material. Opening a resource records verified reading engagement.

7. Ask the tutor

Choose a source, open Grounded tutor, enter a question and select Ask tutor. The tutor recognises the learner, qualification, programme, course and module names and represents the institution using its portal branding.

Local requests may show Queued, Loading the model or Generating the response. A pending request reconnects after a page refresh.

8. Generate practice

Choose Multiple choice, Short answer, Workplace scenario, Flashcards, True or False, Fill in the missing term, Teach back, Step ordering or Case study. Choose the number of items and select Generate practice.

Multiple-choice and True/False update AI-learning mastery. Other activities provide guided self-review. Short answers must be typed in the learner's own words.

9. Review previous practice

Open My practice history to review questions, submitted and correct answers, explanations, scores, sources and activity types. Select Practice this source again for another activity.

10. Baseline diagnostic

Where available, the diagnostic suggests a Foundation, Developing or Established starting band. It is not a formal assessment and cannot affect admission, progression, discipline, competency or certification.
